- CONTEST PERIOD: Starting Thursday Nov. 4th, 2010 at 9:00:00 AM Eastern
Time (ET) and ending April 30, 2011 at 11:59:59 PM ET (the "Contest Period").
- ELIGIBILITY: To enter and be eligible to win, a person must be
a legal resident of Ontario, 13 years of age or older at the time of entry, and
have a valid email address. Persons in any of the following categories are NOT eligible
to participate or win prizes in the Contest: (a) any person who, at any time on
or after Nov. 04, 2010, was or is a director, officer, employee, or agent of
The George Brown College of Applied Arts and Technology (“Sponsor”), or its parent,
subsidiaries, franchisees, or service agencies; and (b) individuals engaged in the
development, production or distribution of materials for the Contest or engaged
in the administration or execution of this Contest (collectively the “Contest Entities”),
and (c) any person domiciled with any of the above.
- How to Enter: Starting at 9:00 a.m. on Nov. 4th 2010, visit http://www.georgebrowngetsyouthejob.ca/ (the contest site) and follow the links and instructions to REVIEW AND ACCEPT THE PHOTO UPLOAD TERMS AND CONDITIONS BY CLICKING ON THE "ACCEPT" BUTTON THEN upload one (1) front-facing photo (“Photo”) of your entire face to be able to “see yourself in the job” (a series of interactive screens will allow you to preview how you would look on the figure of a person in a specific job); then click “Enter Contest & Upload Photo” to register by entering your current and accurate information on the Registration Pages (required fields include first name, last name, phone number, email address, date of birth/age, street address, city, province, postal code, and current stage of your academic/professional career), and accepting these Official Rules. Your photo will be automatically uploaded into the ‘See Yourself in the Job’ gallery. If you are under the age of 18, you must have the permission of your parent or legal guardian to enter the Contest and upload your photograph to the gallery. Entrant may be required to provide proof of such permission upon request from the Sponsor.
After uploading the Photo, completing the “See Yourself in the Job” screens, you will be prompted to ‘Enter Contest& Upload Photo’ at which time you will submit your basic personal/contact information, to earn one (1) entry into the Sweepstakes Drawing. You will be able to “See Yourself in the Job” as many times as you want; however, there is a limit of one (1) entry into the Sweepstakes Draw per person/email address during the Contest Period. If it is discovered that you have attempted to enter the Contest more than once during the Contest Period, all of your entries will be declared null and void. Entries must be received no later than 11:59:59 PM ET on April 30, 2011. Entries will only be accepted through the Contest website. No other means of transmission or delivery will be accepted. Photos will be vetted by site administrator before posting.
For all Photos: YOU MUST BE THE PERSON SHOWN IN THE PHOTO YOU SUBMIT FOR THE
USE DESCRIBED HEREIN. BY SUBMITTING A PHOTO, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOUR
PHOTO MAY BE POSTED ON SPONSOR’S WEBSITE, IN SPONSOR’S DISCRETION, FOR VIEWING BY
VISITORS TO THE WEBSITE. If you are under the age of 18, you must have the permission
of your parent or legal guardian to upload your photo. By submitting a photo into
the Contest, you warrant and represent that you are the sole subject and also the
sole photographer (or have obtained the consent of same), that you own and control
all right, title, and interest (including copyright, in and to the Photo, have the
right and authority to, and do hereby, grant to Sponsor an irrevocable, non-exclusive,
royalty-free worldwide licence in perpetuity to reproduce, broadcast, communicate,
distribute, adapt, modify, and otherwise use all or any part of the Photo, that
you waive any and all moral rights that you may have in the Photo with respect to
the uses contemplated herein, (and if someone else took the photo, that person has
waived any and all moralrights they may have in the Photo) and that you (or your parent/legal guardian if you are a minor) consent to the posting of such Photo as set out in these Official Rules. You shall not be entitled to any consideration, compensation, damages, or other benefits, arising from or relating to Sponsor's use of the your Photo (or any portion thereof) as described above. All Photos must conform to the Guidelines and Content Restrictions below (“Guidelines and Restrictions”) and Sponsor, in its sole and absolute discretion, may remove your Photo and disqualify you from the Contest without notifying you if it believes, in its sole and absolute discretion, that your Photo fails to conform to the Guidelines and Restrictions.
Any references to “you” or “entrant” or “Winner” or “Potential Winner” are deemed
to include references to that person’s parent/legal guardian where the entrant is
under the age of majority.
Guidelines:
- The Photo must be in one of the following formats: .JPG, GIF, or PNG.
- The Photo must not exceed 10 MB in size.
Content Restrictions:
- The Photo must not contain material that violates or infringes another’s rights, including but not limited to rights of privacy, rights of publicity, trademark rights, copyrights, moral rights, rights of attribution or integrity, or any other intellectual property rights;
- The Photo must not contain images, artwork, or other works protected by copyright, unless the entrant created and owns all the copyrights in such works;
- The Photo must not contain material that Sponsor considers, in its sole discretion, inappropriate, indecent, obscene, hateful, tortious, defamatory, slanderous or libelous, or that depicts unsafe or illegal conduct;
- The Photo must not contain material that Sponsor considers, in its sole discretion, promotes bigotry, racism, hatred or harm against any group or individual or promotes discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age; and
- The Photo must not violate or contain material that violates federal, provincial or municipal laws or regulations.
Sponsor retains complete discretion as to whether or not a Photo may be posted on its website.
- RANDOM SWEEPSTAKES DRAW: On or about May 7, 2011, at approximately 3:00:00 PM ET, an independent judging organization (the “Contest Judge”) will randomly draw four (4) entries (the “Potential Winners”) from among all eligible entries received. The first entry drawn will determine the Potential Grand Prize Winner, and the following three entries drawn will determine the Potential First Prize Winners. The odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries received. The random draw will be held in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Each Potential Winner will be eligible to win the applicable prize, subject to verification of eligibility under these Official Rules.

The Grand Prize Winner will receive one (1) MacBookPro 17”, approximate retail value (“ARV”): $2,349.00.
- First Prizes (3 in total):
Each of the three (3) First Prize Winners will receive one (1) Apple iPhone4 32GB 3GS (no activation, airtime or other services included with prize). ARV: $779.00 each.
Total approximate retail value of all prizes available to be won: $4,686.00.
The value of the prizes is as given by the supplier prior to the start of the Contest.

in the U.S. and other countries. Apple in no way endorses or is affiliated with
this promotion.
Winners acknowledge that neither Sponsor nor Contest Entities nor their directors,
employees, or agents, have made nor are in any manner responsible or liable for
any warranty, representation, or guarantee, express or implied, in fact or in law,
relative to any prize, including but not limited to its quality, mechanical condition
or fitness for a particular purpose. Any and all warranties and/or guarantees on
a prize (if any) are subject to the respective manufacturers’/retailers’ terms therefore,
and Winners agree to look solely to such manufacturers or retailers for any such
warranty and/or guarantee.
Prizes are not transferable or redeemable for cash and must be accepted as awarded,
with no substitutions of any kind, except by Sponsor, who reserves the right to
substitute a prize (or portion thereof) of comparable or greater value, at its sole
discretion. Any costs and expenses associated with prize acceptance and use not
specified herein as being provided are each Winner’s responsibility. All prize details
are at Sponsor’s sole discretion.

HOW TO CLAIM YOUR PRIZE: In order to be eligible to win a prize, Potential Winners must first correctly answer, without mechanical aid or assistance of any kind, a mathematical skill-testing question that will be administered over the phone on a weekday between 10:00:00 AM ET and 6:00:00 PM ET. Potential Winners will be contacted by phone, mail or email with instructions on how to claim the prize. If a prize is won by an eligible minor, the prize will be awarded to a parent or legal guardian who must sign and return all required documentation outlined herein and otherwise comply with all requirements imposed on Winner set forth herein. If a Potential Winner is found to be ineligible, declines to accept the prize, fails to answer the skill-testing question correctly, or if Sponsor is unable to contact a Potential Winner within five (5) business days, or in the event that a prize confirmation or prize is returned undeliverable, or if parental consent (where applicable) is not obtained, the prize will be forfeited and, at Sponsor’s sole discretion, the prize may be awarded to an alternate winner. Potential Winners (or their parent/legal guardian where applicable) may be required to furnish proof of identification. Before being declared a Winner, Potential Winners (or their parent/legal guardian where applicable), may be required to execute and return a Declaration and Complete Release and Waiver form (“Declaration and Release form”). The Declaration and Release form must be completed and returned within ten (10) business days from the time it is postmarked as having been sent by Sponsor’s representative or the prize will be forfeited.
Allow 6 to 8 weeks for verification and shipment of your prize after verification.
Sponsor and its Contest Entities shall not be held responsible for any delays in
awarding prizes for any reason outside of their control. Prizes will only be delivered
to verified Winners.
By accepting a prize, each Winner (and his/her parent/legal guardian if a minor)
consents to, and agrees to release and hold harmless Sponsor and the Contest Entities
from any and all claims arising from the use of Winner’s name, address, voice, and
statements relating to the Contest or Sponsor, and photographs or other likenesses,
without further compensation, notification or permission in any publicity or advertising
carried out by Sponsor or any related entities in any and all media now known or
hereinafter developed without territorial or time limitation, except where prohibited
by law. Sponsor accepts no responsibility for loss, damage, or claims caused by
or resulting from the Contest or the prize.
CONDITIONS OF ENTRY:
- By entering, entrants agree to be bound by (i) these Official Rules including all eligibility requirements and (ii) the decisions of Sponsor and/or Contest Judge, made in their sole discretion, which shall be final and binding in all matters relating to this Contest. Entrants who have not complied with these Official Rules are subject to disqualification.
- Sponsor is not responsible for late, lost, misdirected, garbled, illegible or incomplete entries. Proof of transmission (screenshots or captures of game play etc.) and/or mailing does not constitute proof of delivery. The sole determinant of time for the purposes of receipt of a valid entry in this Contest will be the Contest server machine(s). All entries become the sole property of Sponsor and in no case shall be returned to sender.
- Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any entrant’s registration in the Contest (and void all associated entries) or entitlement to a prize, if, in the sole discretion of Sponsor, it determines or suspects that the entrant has attempted to undermine the legitimate operation of the contest by cheating, hacking, deception, or other fraudulent, deceptive or unfair playing practices (including any entries generated by script, macro, robotic, programmed, or any other automated means).
- If a dispute arises regarding who submitted an online entry, the entry will be deemed to be submitted by the authorized account holder of the email address provided at time of entry. Authorized account holder is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider, or other organization responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address.
- As a condition of entering, entrants (or an entrant’s parent or legal guardian if an eligible minor) agree (except where prohibited by law): (a) to release Sponsor and Contest Entities, and each of their officers, directors, employees and agents, from any and all liability, loss or damage incurred with respect to participating in the Contest or the awarding, receipt, possession, and/or use or misuse of the prize or any travel related thereto, (b) that under no circumstances will entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and participant hereby waives all rights to claim punitive, incidental, consequential, or any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses; (c) all causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest, or the prize awarded, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action; and (d) any and all claims, judgments, and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, excluding attorneys’ fees and court costs.
CONTEST OPERATION:
- Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to cancel, modify or suspend this Contest at any time and in any way, without prior notice, including in situations where fraud, technical failures, including any network server or hardware failure, viruses, bugs, errors in programming, or any other errors or other causes corrupt the administration, security, integrity or proper play of the Contest.
- Sponsor and the Contest Entities do not warrant that access to the Contest will be uninterrupted. Sponsor and the Contest Entities are not responsible for any problems that may arise, including but not limited to: (a) lost, interrupted, inaccessible or unavailable networks, servers, satellites, Internet Service Providers, Web sites, or other connection, availability or accessibility problems arising in connection with or over the course of the Contest; or (b) communications failed, jumbled, scrambled, delayed, or misdirected computer, telephone or cable transmissions or hardware or software malfunctions, failures or difficulties; or (c) failure of personal computers and/or software and hardware configurations, any technical malfunctions, failures, or difficulties, printing errors, clerical, typographical or other error in the offering or announcement of any prize or in any prize notification documents; or (d) for any other errors of any kind relating to or in connection with the Contest, whether human, mechanical, clerical, electronic, or technical in nature; or (e) the incorrect or inaccurate capture of information, or the failure to capture any information in connection with the Contest; or (f) damage to a user's system occasioned by participation in this Contest or downloading any information necessary to participate in this Contest.
DISCLOSURES:
- Any attempt by an entrant or other individual, to deliberately damage any website or undermine the legitimate operation of this Contest, including but not limited to any fraudulent claims, is a violation of criminal and civil laws. Should such an attempt be made, Sponsor reserves the right to seek remedies and damages from any such individual, to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution. Entrant engaging in any of the foregoing activities may be disqualified and will forfeit any prize(s) won.
- In the event of any conflict with any Contest details contained in these Official Rules and Contest details contained in contest materials (including but not limited to point of sale, television, and print advertising, promotional packaging, and other promotion media), the details of the Contest as set forth in these Official Rules shall prevail.
- All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of entrants and Sponsor in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the substantive laws of the province of Ontario without regard to Ontario conflicts of law principles, and the laws of Canada applicable therein. All entrants consent to the jurisdiction and venue of the province of Ontario.
- The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these Official Rules shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision. In the event that any provision is determined to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable or illegal, these Official Rules shall otherwise remain in effect and shall be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid or illegal provision were not contained herein. In particular, Sponsor’s employees are not authorized to waive, modify or amend any provision or provisions of these Official Rules in any manner whatsoever.
- This Contest is subject to all applicable Federal, Provincial, and Municipal laws.
- Sponsor respects your right to privacy. Personal information collected from entrants will only be used by Sponsor to administer the Contest and, only if consent is given at the time of entry, to provide entrants with information regarding George Brown College programs and services, subscription to e-newsletters, and/ or participation in research designed to canvass views on education-related activities.
